True review

Hi all

This email is just a true reflection of companies. I sent Makro an email almost a month ago asking if they could help with any donations contributions. The CSI team came back to me saying they cant help, due to 'internal budget constraints'. They show boase that they are helping charities and trying to develop children, which they probably do,but their are other children that also needs to eat. I reapect their wishes I just want others to see a true review. Below is what I sent them and their reply: Dear Sir/Madam

I hope that this email finds you well.

My name is Kurt Appollis and live in Cape Town. The reason for my email is to ask if Makro could assist in any donations to our yearly charity events.

To give some background, My sister is the organizer of these events. Every December she gives a group of less fortunate children a Christmas party where she spoils them with food, drinks, games, gifts etc. She has been doing this almost I think for 10 years and these children always enjoys this and look forward to the end of the year. My aunt is a teacher at the school and will advise her who the less fortunate are, unfortunately she can only pick certain children to go, as this comes out of her own pocket. In the beginning she paid for everything and would not ask for any donations, but the rest of the family jumped in and try to help where we can by donating, raising funds etc. She tries to create a Christmas experience for them which they are not used to, and it is amazing to see the look on their faces and that small things like new toothbrushes, a doll, a toy car, cupcakes, etc. can bring so much joy to them. We always have our own children also at the party, and make them realise how fortunate they are. This year the party will be the 14th of December and we have 60 children that will be at the party.

My sister is a very proud person and would probably be angry with me sending this email, but I think she would be happy if she can have more children at the party. I also feel that it would not cause damage to ask for help.

I have attached some pics of last year and I hope that this email will make Makro also want to be a part of this. Any contributions/ donations will help.

Thank you in advance.

Their Reply: Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for sending us your request for donation.

We have reviewed your request. While we recognize and empathize with the plight of many charity organizations and those less fortunate than ourselves, we unfortunately are unable to offer support at this stage

Please note our decision was not an easy one and was based on internal budget constraints rather than the worthiness of your request. Wishing you everything of the very best.

My reply: Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for your feedback regarding my email.

This is very unfortunate, this was a response I was not hoping for, but somehow expected. I somehow doubt that the reason is to do with internal constraints, but I respect that you found the time to respond to my email not as other big companies.

Just to be clear on what I meant on contributions/donations, I was not only referring to funds, but mostly any non-perishable foods, toiletry products or products that are useless to you but still usable. A can of beans does not mean much to us, but to someone it could be their supper.

Thanks again, and wishing you also everything of the best.
