troublesome unit/nightmare of a inverter
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the Gentech solar inverter that I purchased from Makro woodmead store on the 28th of November 2022. On the day of purchase, I encountered issues with the system in the store, and it took over an hour before I was able to complete my purchase. However, I did not think much of it at the time.
After reading the manual thoroughly, I started using the inverter. However, after only two weeks, the unit began giving me problems, particularly with regards to the amount of time it could power only one LED light, wifi, and one TV. I contacted Makro, and they advised me to either bring the unit to the store and they will book it in for me or take the unit to Gentech's offices. Unfortunately they were closed due to the holiday season. I took the unit in for repairs on the 9th of January 2023, and “apparently” the batteries were replaced. The technician explained how I should use the inverter and gave me another manual to follow.
Despite following the instructions as instructed by the technician and in the manual, the unit continued to have problems. Even after being fully charged and running only one TV, wifi, and one LED light or two LED lights at most, the unit worked for only a week optimally. As a result, I have lost faith in the product, and I do not trust that it will work in the future.
I booked the unit in again on the 23rd of February 2023 and collected it on the 14 March 2023.
The unit did not switch on completely and I have booked it in again on the 27 March 2023. I collected the unit on the 27 April 2023 after a month of it being at the store and guess what it is still troublesome after all these repairs.
Given the numerous issues I have had with this unit over a period of only four months, I am requesting a refund or a new unit. I am not willing to spend R12500 on a unit that clearly does not work as intended.
In addition, I am concerned about the issue of the inverter being closed for purchase when I attempted to buy it. I am unsure if it was closed for sale because Makro was aware of the unit's faults from the beginning.
