This is why we avoid shopping at Makro
On Sunday, 8 November 2015, we went to Makro Centurion early in the morning, to buy an item on special, we took an item next to the special sign. At the tills, the item was rung up at the original price not the special price and we pointed this out. Another customer had pointed this out and it was being rectified on the system - something that happens every time we go to Makro. Eventually the special sign with the correct barcode was passed down to our teller who rang it up, we paid and proceeded to security at the door. The security lady refused to let us pass as she said that the barcode on our item was not the same as the one on the till slip. Eventually there were four people moving around talking to each other and generally ignoring us but not allowing us to leave. I eventually asked to speak to the manager and he was called. He then went to fetch a replacement item and very happily told me he had solved the problem in 5 minutes so why was I complaining. The staff then had to reverse the original item and ring up the new item he brought despite them having the same barcode. This took over 45 minutes and the excuse, old stock on sale and the item we had taken was new stock.
