Statement must be printed for payment to reflect

Ohkkkkk so I paid my account in January and yes my bad I used wrong reference number. On the 9th I sent my proof of payment and got a response that it was received in order and being sent to finance department. Now today I called because I want to close the account tomorrow then I get told that it does not reflect yet and I have to wait for the April statement WHAT???meanwhile I accrue interest??? Really?? Shouldn't it update automatically? Aren't you running on a real time on time system so now I must wait for April month end? This does not make sense at all.
