Selling secondhand goods as new

I bought a generator at Makro Riversands in November, I thought I was buying a new Generator, brought it home and did not use it as there were no load shedding, In Late December we used the Generator for the first time, and the generator did not work, we then returned the Generator to Makro, they then said its pass 30 days they need to send the generator in to the supplier and they cant refund us, the whole month of January the Generator was "in for inspection" we later found out it was returned to Makro as uninspected, the manager then said they need to send it in again, but advise us we need to be responsible for half the repair cost, which is absurd. they have hopefully sent it in as we not getting feedback, but on inspection of the paperwork we found the previous repair slip with the generator's manual, showing that this generator was broken before, had I known this we would not have bought it, I went to Makro to buy something new, not secondhand and repaired. they sold it as new and its *****ulent. now expecting me to pay for repairs, the manager at Riversands is not helpful and is not resolving the problem, neither is Makro customer care on X. they blatantly ignore their customers knowing they fully being *****ulent and guilty, so again, big corporations just shrugging off customers, my money will not make you richer, but fair is fair and I want my money back. and be sure, I will never again support Makro
