Security daydreams while customer bags own goods
I submitted this complaint on Makro's website but no response yet:
I did some shopping at Makro on 30 May 2015. The store was incredibly busy. At the till there was no bagger, which was understandable since the store was so busy, and I bagged my monthly shopping myself. However, what really annoyed me was that there was a security lady standing right next to the cashier, idly moving the grocery items a few centimetres down the conveyor belt as the cashier finished scanning them. She was doing this while absentmindedly staring into space. I have no idea what she was supposed to be doing but she could have at least offered to help me bag the groceries. I know that bagging is not in the security staff's job description, but certainly good customer service is? And staring into space while moving each item certainly also isn't in their job description! She could not have been checking the items because she didn't look down at the items even once. I know because I gave her many dirty looks as I was struggling to bag the 35 items myself. The point-of-sale number was 59 and the security person's name was X
(name given in the Makro email, withheld here for the person's privacy).
