Samsung TV goes faulty 3 times in first year
I purchased a large Samsung flat screen tv from Makro in August 2021. The tv started giving problems in the first three months. It had to be repaired on three separate occasions in the first two years under its warranty. Each time this happened I asked Makro to replace the TV, but was told according to the CPA they are allowed to repair an appliance four times before considering a replacement. Only now do I realize that was a complete lie! This was all done in writing, which makes it even more serious. In November 2023 the TV again would not switch on and Makro then said it was no longer their problem and I should take it up with Samsung. Samsung would not even look at the history of this below-standard appliance that they sold to me and It was up to me to repair the tv at my own cost! I reported Samsung to the Ombudsman who found in my favour. A consultant from Samsung called me to say they have two options for me: Repair the tv or replace tv, but I had to pay almost R7000 for that! I was not happy and asked that they send these two options via e-mail so that I could look at them and decide on a course of action. The e-mail arrived on 11 April 2024 giving me a week to accept the offer. The issue is they only included the replacement with the R7000 cost to me and made no mention of repairing the TV. I responded to that mail asking them to please add the second option as per the phone call so that I could have a look at the terms and warranty period on the repairs. Since that e-mail no one at Samsung has responded to any of my follow up mails - I have sent at least 10 e-mails requesting a reply. I also used Samsung's WhatsApp line on two occasions to try and get a result or at least a reply, but its almost like I've been blocked! How can such a large successful company treat their clients so badly?? Makro and Samsung have lost a customer that has supported them for over 30 years! I am beyond disappointed.
