Probably the most appalling customer service ever!!

1C3P0A1725 INVOICE NUMBER! On Tuesday, 1 July, I decided to Makro Woodmead to do my shopping. This is the kind of shop that I may be only do every three to maybe four months. Shopping at Makro Woodmead is quite the task as most people would agree. I spent nearly R2000 so what I’m about to complain about is really not about the money it’s about the principle of how this company goes about treating customers and the fact that in 2025 do not have a system where they can send you a virtual voucher! One of the purchases was two 12 packs of Pepsi, Max 500 ml and one Pepsi max 330 ml! The young lady, a checkout is extremely friendly and sweet. She even made an error when she rang up three times Coke zero buddies instead of one I was nice enough to say don’t worry about it. Just bring up the three instead of having to call a supervisor to cancel two of the Coke zeros. I just went to the fridge and took the two Coke zeros! So basically, she rang me up and told me to leave the Pepsi’s in my trolley that she would just scan them! When I check my receipt after I had got home, she had rang up three Pepsi Max 500 ml instead of two 500 ml and one 330! Not a big deal I called head office, explained to them what it happened and asked him to please. Can they send me a virtual credit or some form of credit? The gentleman says no I must come back to the store for my R20 so my argument about this was why must I drive all that way for 20 red when it was actually an error on their side this was an innocent era clearly by the lovely young lady that assisted me a check out! Please let me add that almost every single time I have shopped at a MAKRO store I’ve had an issue! Whether I have used their online services or through ONE CART, they were issues with either delivery or products! The last time I chopped at MAKRO WOODMEAD, the chocolate I bought was rotten! On a previous occasion, the Pepsi max I bought with flat, on another occasion, I ordered on their app and my groceries were delivered way way too late the app2 to 3 days! My delivery was about 10 days no lies! So this time when I noticed I’ve been overcharged yes but only R20 it just put me in the worst mood! Now, please explain to me how a company such as Makro do not have the ability to send a virtual voucher like all the other retailers do??? On a recent interaction with Woolworths, they sent me a virtual voucher as an apology for some produce. I was not happy with. A friend bought me a birthday gift from Dischem in the shape of a virtual voucher. She didn’t even have to go into the store. Total sports as in Bash sent me a virtual voucher as an apology for an incorrect delivery. But MAKRO expect me to drive all the way back to the store for a R20 credit? I said sure who’s gonna pay the R50 for my petrol in order for me to get there! The store is about 10 km from my home and let’s not forget it isn’t one of the most busiest retail areas of Johannesburg! To date, I have not heard back from her office about how are they going to resolve this issue? I am appalled at this company’s way of treating their customers! And the fact that they cannot send a customer a virtual voucher! Not to mention I’ve yet to ever receive any kind of compensation for past mishaps and I’m being polite about those mishaps! MAKRO you need to realize it’s 2025 and if you’re company, don’t know how to orchestrate a virtual voucher without inconveniencing your customers, you should not be in the business of retail! Now you expect me to drive all the way back to your giant store waiting in line use my petrol and my time for my R20! I would expect possibly a little bit more than just getting in your car and come back to the store and will give you R20! Nope does not work for me!! I’m not sure that I will be stepping foot in a MAKRO store any time in the future unless this is resolved in a manner that suits me your customer! Do better!!
