Poorly trained staff/supervisors
This morning I went to Makro to purchase amongst other things, 10 pairs of flip flops to donate to a home for Children. In order to get the most shoes for the money I had, I selected 10 pairs on the "buy 2 pairs for R50" range. When I got to the till to ring up the sale, quite a few of the slip slops came up at the higher price of R39.99. The supervisor was called and she then told me that it was because I had 5 pairs of mens and 5 pairs of ladies shoes, which would affect the price. This was clearly incorrect, as then only one set of the two pairs should have been at the higher price, not the 4 or 5 pairs that were at the higher price. I pointed this out to the supervisor who then took 2 pairs away and came back after about 5 minutes to tell me that I was wrong, as the shoes had to be the same for each set of 2 pairs to get the discounted price. All the shoes had the sticker on them offering them as "for R50", and I pointed this out to the supervisor who refused to listen and maintained her stand. I left the store and bought 10 pairs of slip slops from Pep stores at a lower price than this anyway, as well as not purchasing all the other goods that I was intending to purchase.
The supervisor was quite pleased when I walked out, as she had "proven her point" that the customer was wrong and she smiled and said "goodbye" to me as I left the store.
I am definitely not impressed by this experience and will try and avoid Makro for future purchases whenever possible, it's just not worth the waste of my time and the aggravation that I seem to experience with Makro staff.
