Poor Service
I bought a TV from Makro Wonderboom and had it for just under a year when it developed a fault—there was sound but no display. As the TV was still under its 2-year warranty, I contacted customer service and booked it in for repair.
A technician came to my house but could not fix the issue on-site, so the TV was taken in for repair. Three weeks later, the same problem returned. I contacted customer service again and booked the TV for another repair, but I received no follow-up. I then took the TV back to the store myself, where I was given the runaround.
At this point, I requested a refund so that I could purchase a new TV, as I had lost confidence that the issue would be properly resolved. I was then told that the TV must be repaired three times before I could request a refund, which contradicts my understanding of the Consumer Protection Act. The floor manager asked me to email him the details, but he never responded. When we asked for assistance to carry the TV, we were told to ask the car security guard instead, which was very unprofessional.
Currently, when I contact Makro via WhatsApp, I only receive short, unhelpful replies. For example, when I explain that the TV has already been booked in at Makro Wonderboom, the response is simply, “Kindly return the TV back to the store.”
Calling the call centre has also been extremely frustrating, as I am continuously transferred between departments. On my last call, I was transferred seven times without any resolution.
