Pathetic staff at Makro Online Orders Department

Really disgusted with the attitude of a Raquel and her superior Mark at Makro Online division both of whom displayed firstly, a complete lack of common sense and secondly stubbornness when dealing with my situation, traits unbefitting those in a service oriented industry and at the sime time scary for "experienced" personnel as they seem to portray themselves. Having placed and paid for an online order with Makro Centurion for 3 bicycles, I subsequently made the trip to the store to follow up on proceedings. I was informed that one item (a men's 29" mountain bike) was out of stock, however the other 2 viz. a ladies 27.5" (priced the same as the mens 29" at R800) as well as the girls bike at R700 were in stock and available. My order totalled R2300, which was fully paid for. There was no way that I could have ordered 3 adult bikes at R800 plus a girls bike at R700 and ended up paying R2300, yet this is what these 2 cerebrally-challenged, sorry individuals stubbornly refused to comprehend and despite my imploring pleas for them to grasp the situation, were found unwilling and/or unable to understand, and found a way to blame me for their inaptitude handling of what was essentially a simple swap. How does Massmart employ such wholly unprofessional and inept staff as these prime examples? Earlier in the day, I proposed that Makro replace the out-of-stock men's 29" bike for an available men's 27.5", both priced at R799. And therefore the order would now stand at 1 x 27" Mens bike @ R799 + 1 x 27.5" Ladies bike @ R799 + 1 x Girls bike. This is what was agreed upon. Having already paid for it, I was told that the order would be changed within 15 minutes. After an hour of waiting at the store, no progress was forthcomming, whereupon I was informed by Jacob at the store to rather return later in the day to collect the amended order. By 5 pm, I noticed that my order was amended, however, this time, instead of swapping out the Mens 29" with a Mens 27.5", a Ladies equivalent was added in place of the Mens. So the order now stood at 2 x Ladies bikes and 1x girls bike. I called their online desk and spoke to Oliver, who was originally involved in the sale and informed him of the mess-up, whereupon he assured me that he would rectify the matter. When I arrived at Makro an hour later I was informed that the correction had still not been effected. I was then unfortunately put in touch with those 2 and the nightmare became a reality...

I appreciate your response however my beef lies with the poor and pathetic attitude of Raquel and Mark. Please, if you could arrange for the telephone recordings to be listened to, as Mark "warned" me that the calls were recorded. Jacob from Makro Centurion made a call to the online dept. on the 25th around 5.30pm, spoke to Raquel who flatly refused to help, blaming my "mistake" for their mess and insisted that nothing caould be done further. If you listen to the call you will gather that she asserted that I had erroneously ordered 4 bicycles originally (which is impossible as I had already finalised the order inluding paying for the 3 bicycles ordered as per the online ordering process.) She flatly refused to believe this fact and insinuated that I was fabricating a story. When I mentioned that a person by the name of Oliver was dealing with this issue throughout the course of the day and was aware of the actual turn of events, her crude response was "well I have much more experience than him!" I was left totally exasperated! On realizing that this woman was in no state of mind to listen to reason, I requested to speak to her superior. Unfortunately, Mark fared not much better, after painstakingly explaining to him what actually happened, he remarked that he was unable to follow, and promptly echoed his side-kick's sentiments viz. I had mistakenly ordered ordered 1 mens bike @ R800ea, 2 ladies bike @R800ea, and 1 girls bike atR700ea, and he found difficulty in comprehending the simple fact that the order totalled R2300, which I paid for and it was impossible to corroborate this with his ''Facts". He then proceeded to say that I should cancel the order! Is this how the staff at Makro online orders are taught to deal with legitimate customer queries? When I questioned him whether it was his decision to make, regarding cancelling my already paid-for order, he quickly did a reverse and said that he is only putting forward this suggestion, to which I rep**** that he can keep his "offer" to himself. The reason for this complaint is to make those responsible aware of the modus operandi of their staff and to take corrective measures to ensure this is not repeated, otherwise I fear many customers would not be as accepting as I was. Please refer to a call made from Makro Centurion to your dept.on 25/11 around 5.30pm. Mark called my cell number ending with "864" around 5.45pm.
