PATHETIC SERVICE AT ITS BEST!!!

On the 17th December 2020, me and partner visited Makro silver lakes liquor store at around 17:15, to do our shopping as it was the last day of the week to shop for liquor, we did our shopping and the nightmare started when we got to the till.

After everything was scanned we used our Makro Gift card to pay. It kept on declining which is a norm ever since we got this gift card but eventually the transaction would go through, in this case it kept on declining up until the cashier told us there is nothing more she can do, we asked her that what is the way forward?, which she called her manager Mr Nel to come intervene.

Mr Nel suggested she can try the card after a couple of minutes, while we were waiting, I told Mr Nel of a similar situation that occurred at the main store, were a manager had to complete some forms in indoor for or purchase to go through. Mr Nel blatantly rep**** to me “there is no such process in here” which gives me an impressions that that Marko does not have any process or procedures, people work in silos.

Mr Nel checked in the gift card had sufficient money for our purchase , which he confirmed that there is indeed, he the advised that surely their systems are offline and he can only contact the IT people only around 7 so there is nothing more he can do for us. I went to the main store and managed to purchase a pack of chips which the transaction was successful.

It’s a shame and disgrace that such a huge store like Marko offers such pathetic service, I assume when your system are offline, you do not even have a contingency plan in place to assist your customers who hold Makro gift cards or Mr Nel definitely need some serious training because he clearly doesn’t know what he is doing.

I would like my remaining balance on my gift card be refund to me in cash with immediate effect and since we saved up money to purchase theses gift card in a group, I will also encourage my friends to do the same because Makro takes its client for granted.
