ON-LINE ORDER ITEMS CANCELLED BY MAKRO - DÉJÀ VU!
On 2 February I posted a Makro review [here at hellopeter] suggesting that Makro should not offer an on-line business.
That sentiment has been reinforced.
Following my [2 February] review, I got a call from Makro Bloemfontein’s manager assuring me that this was not the way Makro do business.
Stupidly, I believed him!
Well, it turns out that THIS IS THE WAY THAT MAKRO BLOEMFONTEIN DO BUSINESS!
Once again, Makro have cancelled items that I ordered and paid for.
On Makro’s website log in page, they state: “Start the shopping fun!”
What a joke!
Finally, I HAVE LEARNED!
Here are the details for those who are interested: 16 March - placed and paid for an on-line order (all items indicated “In stock in selected store Bloemfontein, Freestate]”. 16 March at 12h36 - I received an email stating: “"Great news! Your online order has been confirmed. Estimated Delivery 2 - 5 days " 16 March at 13h16 - Another email telling me: "Our team is picking and packing your order now. You will receive an email when we are done packing your order." 18 March at 13h21 - an email informing me that 6 items which I ordered and paid for have been cancelled. No apology, just the following: "The following item(s) were cancelled: Dear [my name], Your order #MAK[number] has been updated. Here are your new order details. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us on ************. Thank you for shopping online with Makro. What happens next? If a refund is due, it will be issued to the same payment method you used when you purchased the item and can take up to 7 working day to reflect."
Your response and apology are noted, even though I am aware that it is a "nameless" standard response.
However, it does not help the fact that I will not be receiving the items which Makro Bloemfontein had in stock when I paid for them but 3 days later, for whatever reason, cancel the items without considering communication with me directly [you have my phone number] and perhaps offering me an alternative?
Instead, you sent me a standard email.
Makro forgets that we [consumers] have choices.
I have chosen!
Going forward I shall only order from on-line suppliers who clearly know what they are doing such as Takealot.
