Misleading email discount voucher trap
Received an email from Makro offering me a discount voucher. Went to the store and spent more than my usual budget due to the expected discount, only to get to the cashier and find out the voucher has a spending threshold which was never mentioned in the email. Showed the email and argued with staff to no avail. Would never have bought the extra items due to budget constraints, if not for the promised discount. Was basically shamed into paying for all the items by the staff congregating around me. Not sure if I'll return to the store ever again.

01 Jun 2024, 06:05I've received 2 replies from Makro but starting off the conversation about not being able to reach me, sounds a bit accusatory, especially when the phone number used does not, nor has it ever belonged to me. Expecting to to call back is just silly, considering the actual issue has not been acknowledged in any of communications sent to me. I do not have the time to debate the merits of my complaint during working hours either due to the nature of my job. If I had the type of work that afforded me the luxury of long phone calls, I would probably earn enough not to be unhappy and quibble about how a misleading R200 voucher offer *****ed up my budget for the month. Still an unhappy customer and getting tired of the constant corporate speak replies.
