MISLEADING ADVERTISING

Makro advertised an HP I3 Model 5005U for R4999.00 as an opening special for their Cornubia store. The ad was in most local newspapers and stated that they had 500 in stock. I travelled from Margate for the opening and it took me more than 2 hours to get into the store. I was assisted at the Multimedia section and supposedly given the laptop that was on special. Only when I got home did I realise that I was not given the same model as per the ad. I drove back to the store on the 28th March and asked for the laptop that was advertised. Only then was I told it was a misprint and they dont have that particular machine. I was even told that the model advertised is no longer available. I called Incredible Connection in the presence of the Makro staff and was told they have that model in stock. The manager from multimedia apologised for the error and said that there was not much he could do as he has to escalate it with headoffice. Further, there were no signs in the store stating that there was an error in the advert. Surely this is misleading the public and is possibly contravening some of the CPA laws.

A rather disappointed customer
