Mis-leading and false advertising
I have recently purchased 2 bikes for my kids, on 2 separate occasions. Purchases were done online.
The quality of bikes and service I have received from Makro Montague gardens has been nothing short of appalling.
The first bike - 16" Raleigh - my child could not use it for the first week as we were given a defective bike. The tyre tube was broken before we could even use the bike. The staff said they could not replace the tube, they would have to repair it. After my husband argued, the tube was replaced.
I then purchased the 2nd bike for my son and specifically purchased a 20" Raleigh bmx with training wheels as he is 7 years old and cannot ride a bike without training wheels. When the bike was collected, it did not come with the trainers. This in my opinion is false advertising as no where on the site does it state that the wheels are not included. Makro then proceeded to tell us that the bike does in fact NOT come with the wheels.
I escalated this via the WhatsApp channel and a manager said they will contact the supplier and request for the training wheels and get back to us. This never happened. My husband then went back to the store and was told the supplier doesn't have the wheels for a 20" bike and basically there's nothing they can do.
On the Makro site, there are Raleigh training wheels that fit 12-20" bikes for R189, they could have put these on the bike and we would have been on our merry way, but Makro of course did the ********* thing and rid themselves of all responsibilities.
Today we had gone to a cycle shop and purchased these wheels for R200 and the sales guy had actually laughed when we told him what had actually happened with Makro.
After being a loyal Makro shopper, I will never spend another cent either online or I store.
Makro, you have been disappointing and you guys need to refund me for the extra amount I have had to spend due to your false advertising.
