****MED MAKRO PURCHASE
I recently purchased an item online and paid the necessary delivery fees. The following day, I received an SMS informing me that my parcel was ready for delivery, but a small additional fee of R18.22 was due to the courier. The message included a "Pay Now" link, which I followed. After entering my card details, the payment was processed, and I received a confirmation stating that I had paid R14,499 to Makro.co.za.
Alarmed, I immediately contacted my bank. They informed me that the payment had indeed gone to Makro and that they were unable to stop the transaction. The only option was to lodge a dispute. I then reached out to Makro, hoping they could stop the delivery of whatever had been *****ulently purchased. Unfortunately, they advised that they could not assist and suggested I contact the SAPS.
I am both shocked and dismayed that Makro seemed more focused on securing their sale than on preventing a ******** act, allowing ****mers to exploit their platform in this way.
On 7 February at 13h27 an amount R14499 went off my Bank account . According to Nedbank this was for a card purchase at MAKRO.(please see attached).Nedank has confirmed that Makro was the beneficiary.At the time of this purchase my Bank card was in my possession.I was NOT at any store NOR did I make any purchase.I have both telephonically and via Hellopeter attempted to reach out for assitance witha view of at least trying to prevent these crimes occurring in future.At the very least please advise if Makro did receive this payment and whether it was an online or instore purchase so that I can assist the SAPS commercial crime division with their investigation.I don't know if Makro is not understanding my explanation of what has happened ,but I find your reluctance to assist in establishing how this crime was committed really surprising
