massmart or messmart

Game and Makro advertise items that they do not have in stock. This seems like a common practice. in the December catalogue of Game a pram is advertised. Since the catalogue came out (valid 26 November - 24 December) there was no stock. On 17 December I checked prams available at Makro and after verifying online stock availability went through to their Cape Gate branch. there I was told they have no stock. The first person I asked (Navy blue uniform) could tell me immediately that the pram is not in stock. She then called staff member in orange sweater who confrimed that there was no stock. I queried the fact that their website shows that there are stock and that I came from Mitchells Plain. She became annoyed with me and told me even management will tell me the same thing at which point I asked to see the manager. I waited 20 minutes - she came back took the price tag of the pram and without saying a word left again. I then decided to leave but on my way to another section walked past me and told me just to wailt as the manager will give me a discount. When she came back she gave me a slip and inform me that I will get a R100.00 discount on the pram. She didn't tell me if they found stock, if I will have to come back or if they will give me the pram on the floor. I just left. I know for a fact that if I was white the manager would have been there to speak to me. The attitude of the assistant and the manager is totally unacceptable. they showed total disregard to their customer. To get back to Game. Although Game Mitchells Plain gave me a "rain cheque" stock went to Cape Town and Century City when it eventually arrived on 18 December. I received a call the morning of 18 December from Game (after enquiry on 17 December) informing me that stock has arrived in Cape Town and that I can come and pay for the pram and it will be delivered to me at the latest by Friday 20 December. I was willing to do it but when at Canal walk I decided to check if they have stock and found the pram there. Even though there was a customer waiting in Mitchells Plain one pram was delivered to Canal walk rather. At least the lady at Canal walk was very proficient - she checked price and assembled the pram as we needed it immediately.
