MAKRO's scandalous policy on return Goods
On the 12th of December 2018, I went to Makro Woodmead in Midrand. I bought for abut R15000 worth of goods among which a R5000 phone that I offered to my wife for the new year. It turned out that the phone was defective and on the 30th of December , we returned to the store to get it exchanged or reimbursed. The manager of the Returns department Thabiso Modiba ********** gave my wife and I the run around for 2 hours. All along we were standing up (My wife is 57 and I am 58). After torturing us, he finally acknowledged that the phone was defective but said he could not reimburse or exchange the phone before he got it assessed by the technical department and that such assessment could not take place before ...the 5th of January 2019. I told them that my wife could not wait that long and that i will buy her a phone from another store and come in January to get my money back.
The next time i heard from Makro was January 15. I received an sms reference ********** stating that my phone had just been received for assessment. On the 17th of January , I got two calls from Makro ********** . The first one ask me to come and get my money back. The second phone caller said that she was sorry but the previous information was not correct. She expressed that they had in fact two of the same phone that had a defect. They were not able to fix the phone of the other customer but mine had been fixed. "the main board was replaced" she said. I told her that I was not interested in getting the phone back and that i had already bought another phone for my wife. her response was "Well, she will have two phones". This is UNACCEPTABLE. Please help me get my money TODAY. Thank you
