Makro’s mixed performance Two weeks ago, I visited the Makro store in Milnerton, Cape Town, to view a Desktop computer. The shop assistant was not technically strong and could not answer several of my questions on the specific model that I was considering. It did not bother me too much because I knew what I was looking for and could find the technical details online. I decided on a particular model, but after a long search, he could not find it in their store. He then disappeared for a while, and I found him chatting to a lady that was making a call to the Ottery branch to check for availability (I had coincidentally checked their Makro website that indicated that the particular PC was in fact available there). The answer was that nothing was available. The shop assistant shrugged his shoulders indicating that it was too bad. They did not come up with any other plan to help me get one. I left dejectedly, but instinctively I knew that there was another option: Order it from Makro Online. I promptly did this at home - since I have a registered profile on the Makro site - having before bought several items in this way. The process was easy and swift. They promised delivery within 2 -5 days. I resigned myself to the inevitable wait. Less than 24 hours later, I got a call from a courier company that were having difficulty finding my house. It was delivered half an hour later. Conclusion Makro could improve the technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities of its floor personnel. However, its online system is clearly working very well. Thank you, very much.
