MAKRO'S "AFTER SALES SERVICE" AND EMPTY PROMISES
Purchased a Defy 5 Burner Gas/Electric Oven for R12499.00 on 21 May 2016 with an extended Warranty for R649.00. 4 years down the line the oven switches itself off when it heats up to 200 degrees and 2 of the burners have to be lit with a lighter. The unit was reported faulty to Makro on 8 June 2020. Makro's service provider inspected - not repaired - the unit that same week. I was informed that once Makro had approved the quotation, the spares would be ordered. On 25 June I tried to contact Makro Strubens Valley. On the 3rd try I managed to get through and was told to contact Customer Care. After holding for close on 15 minutes, the details were taken and I was told someone would contact me. The silence was deafening. On 10 July I once again contacted Customer Care, held on for close on 8 minutes and was told once again that someone would contact me. Nope, nothing, nada, zilch. Fast forward to 24 July, tried to get through to the Customer Care line ...... cut off 3 times ..... total holding time 12 minutes, also left a comment on Makro's Facebook page which they rep**** to 5 days later requesting contact details. Have I heard from them since supplying the contact details? Not a chance!!! 27 July another call to Makro Strubens Valley at 13h21 where I was given the number of Devon whom I got hold of at 16h10. Devon was exceptionally helpful and got back to me at 16h48 to inform me that emails had been sent to the service provider and Head Office. He would only be back on Saturday and I should contact Chantelle. Contacted Chantelle on 28 July at 14h00 and explained the situation. She would get back to me. Then out of nowhere I received a call from the Service Provider at 16h08 informing me that they had miraculously received the spare parts and they would be coming to repair the stove on 29 July. I refused, because by now the middle burner had started giving trouble. (Big ups to Defy who sells a stove for R12500 which only lasts for 4 years). Eventually at 16h32 I received a call from Chantelle who informed me that the Service Provider had said that I have refused service. Whilst explaining to Chantelle why I was unhappy and why I felt the unit should rather be credited, she chipped in and I lost it. I have been patient for nearly 2 months and now I have to deal with someone with attitude and no manners who in the background says to a colleague "You see what I have to deal with!" I was then informed that decisions on credits were not handled at branch level (a fact which I knew and did not expect) and a conference call would be arranged between myself, her manager at Head Office and herself. Well it is 13h00 on 29 July 2020. Have I heard back from Makro, Chantelle or anyone else?? No!
