Makro withholding laptop refund since August 21st

I bought a laptop from Makro in March. On day one, it was defective (cursor problem). Makro refused a refund and forced a repair. It broke again in June. Makro approved a refund but cancelled it because couriers wouldn't reach my rural village during recess. In July, the laptop completely died. I returned it on 7 August, and Makro promised a refund by 21 August.

It is now September, and Makro is withholding my money, claiming they are waiting for a "supplier credit." Yesterday they tried to force a replacement laptop on me. Under Section 56 of the CPA, the choice of a refund is mine. Makro is ghosting me on WhatsApp and email. I want my cash refund processed immediately.

Thank you for the response. Please note that a Johannesburg representative has already called me today asking for information I have repeatedly provided since 21 August. I will not accept further delays for 'investigations' or 'supplier credits.' My rights under Section 56 of the CPA are clear: I choose a cash refund. If I do not receive written confirmation and proof of my refund within my 48-hour ultimatum, I am moving forward with my formal complaints to the CGSO and Capitec Bank.

UPDATE:Makro collected my defective laptop on 7 August, promised a refund by 21 August, and has now gone completely silent. Last week, they even tried to get me to sign an EFT form stating I had already received the money before they would actually pay me. I refused to sign a false statement. Because of their continuous delay tactics, broken promises, and automated bot loops, I have now officially logged a formal case against them with the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) under Case ***. I expect immediate written proof of payment from an escalation manager.
