Makro sells used electronics - beware!

Makro SA. When purchasing electronics, you can be assured that a buyer wants a product that has NOT been opened and used before. So imagine our surprise when we ******* brand 'new' packaging and turn on our 'new' android box (which cost a pretty penny) and find that our unit has already got a user logged in. Not only that, apps were installed that should not even be there. Whoever used this product hadn't even bothered to restore it to factory settings. Aside from the annoyance of having to go return the product for a full refund, what flabbergasted us was the nonchalant manner in which Makro's electronics staff regarded the matter. No surprise or even attempt to figure out what happened. Just 'yes it looks like this unit has been used by someone else', and here's your refund. I can only imagine that this is a common occurrence and urge other customers to be very wary of buying electronics from you guys.

This was at Makro Ottery. Also, the customer service was very good, we didn't have a problem with returning the product at all. Our concern is how an old product can possibly make it onto the floor without anyone's knowledge. What is the procedure in place when accepting an electronic item being returned? It's not a bottle of oil, that's easily visible. The device had an app that SHOULD NOT even be supported (Netflix) - meaning that this product does not even have it's original OS. That alone voids a warranty, as I'm sure you know. This has very little to do with individual staff members, it's about Makro's business model and trust as a supplier. I can assure you, I absolutely did not even consider taking another device. And that's a serious problem if your customer can't trust you.
