Makro selling used products as new

In January I purchased a Generator from Newmarket Makro. In March when the load shedding got bad I unpacked the generator for use. I was surprised to see that there was already fuel in the tank. I tried to start the item and the cord pulled thru and would not return. I took the item back to Makro Newmarket where I was met with reluctance to resolve my problem. This was supposed to be a new product and purchasing from Makro there is an expectation that one is purchasing a new unused product. This was on the 14 March. I have not had any emails, phone calls, sms messages keeping me in the loop as to what is happening. The item was purchased on the 11 January 2020 and returned on the 14 March 2020. Excuse from unhelpful manager was that more than 3 months had passed. My argument is that this was NOT a new product I purchased!!
