Makro Mislead and Misinform

Makro refuse to stand by their returns policy. Online searches will lead you to believe you have 14 days to return items for refund but that is a false claim. I bought a phone in store but was not permitted to test or examine it before purchase. I sought a refund within the claimed 14 day return period but was refused because "everyone knows phones must be returned unopened within seven days". There was no mention of this at the time of purchase or in any of several online searches which clearly state that items may be returned for refund within 14 days. I contacted Makro Head Office and was told the matter would be "escalated" and someone would call me within three to five working days. That was on 5 December and I have heard nothing.

So much for, " We take all our customer requests seriously and assure you that this matter will be our priority. " Still no response at all from Makro!!!

When I say "no response at all" I mean relating to my complaint. I did receive a private reply via the hellopeter platform but it was just a bog standard (attempted) pacifier from Makro Hellopeter Team. The fact that they have a team for this purpose says a lot!

UPDATE: 31 MARCH 2023
Update!? What update!? Only thing to report is nothing to report. Makro have still not rep**** so I can only assume they are taking my complaint so seriously and implement so many solutions that they haven't had a spare moment to respond with the promised feedback. Oh I do feel so valued and important (NOT!!!)

Phoned Makro H.O. again today. Gave previous Ref to Olebogeng and told her I was still awaiting the promised response. After 16 minutes of wasted airtime, I was still fobbed off and left feeling anything but the satisfied client they supposedly value and support. I reiterated my previous complaints, including that of Makro's continued publication of a 14 day returns policy which Olebogeng acknowledged was correct. Once again, I voiced my abhorance that such blatantly misleading information is still being published. I requested contact details of the CEO, MD and/or Secretary thereof and was only given the CEO's name after Olebogeng had checked whether she was allowed to give such info. I shall be following up on this matter and most certainly will be lodging formal complaints with relevant authorities.
Perfect example of how to lose customers.
