Makro ****ming with 3rd Party Vendor, Lani Enterprises
I use Microsoft 365 for work and personal reasons. I buy a subscription every year - either from Takealot or Makro. As Microsoft 365 is a yearly subscription, I like to keep an eye out on prices.
This year, I bought a Microsoft 365 subscription on Makro through a 3rd party vendor, Lani Enterprises. I was expecting to be sent a product key which I can input into my own account and thus, renew Microsoft 365 using my own account. Instead, I received an email from Lani Enterprises with their OWN email and password i.e it is not a product key and I would need to use their account details in order to access Microsoft 365.
I immediately rep**** back to Lani Enterprises (as they emailed me) that this is not what I ordered and their ad is false because it doesn't state that I would not be receiving a product key but rather I'd be using their account to access Microsoft 365. Furthermore, I added that I have sensitive information on my OneDrive which I do not feel comfortable having the information on another person's account. I emailed them twice - no response.
So I logged a refund on Makro detailing that the advert is misleading because it appears to be advertising a product key and not using someone else's account details. I attached screenshots of the advert for Makro to see. Twice, Makro told me that they cannot do refunds because it is a software item.
I am not angry that I am unable to get a refund due to Microsoft 365 being software. My entire issue and frustration is that I bought Microsoft 365 from Makro because the advert mislead me to believe I would get a product key where it details all the features of Microsoft 365 - like all adverts selling Microsoft 365.
I have screenshots of the advert placed on Makro by Lani Enterprises. It states: - price - features of Microsoft 365 - essentially all the usual when one buys a product key It does not state: - that I won't get a product key - that I will receive their own account details in order access Microsoft 365.
Back and forths with Makro, I cannot get a refund despite being **** to by their third party vendor. What a waste of money.
Basically, everyone who bought from Lani Enterprises believing that they will get a product key, cannot get a refund. So Makro gets commission on every sale from Lani Enterprises and Lani Enterprises keeps the money because (verbatim) they "don't allow refunds on software".
Makro, this is ********* business conduct.
I’ll await feedback - hopefully there will be a positive resolution for both sides (on my side: refund and on your side: inform Lani Enterprises to be truthful in their adverts when selling software).
I appreciate your team contacting the relevant department for further assistance.

I have received another email from Makro stating that they can’t refund me and that I need to send photos of the product so they can inspect the condition.
This is the third round of emails I have been going through with Makro. In each round, I emailed them the screenshot of the email (from Lani Enterprises to use their account in order to access Microsoft Office 365 - NOT THE PRODUCT KEY that I was lead to believe I’ll receive). Again, I responded with sending the screenshot.
Can someone from the online department please do something about this?
I do not want to receive another email saying that they can do refunds on software (when I was **** to) and that they need to inspect the product’s condition (when I have clearly stated and sent proof that all I got was an email from Lani Enterprises with their own account details and no product key).
I just want my money back for this clear **** that Makro is allowing Lani Enterprises to get away with.
Thank you.
