Makro / Massmart – No response, recurring TV fault, multiple case numbers

I have been dealing with Makro and Massmart since 4 April 2026 regarding a defective Samsung QLED TV.

The unit was previously repaired, but the same fault has returned and worsened.

A service call was logged on 4 April and an inspection was conducted on 9 April. Despite this, no outcome has been provided.

Multiple case reference numbers have been created for the same issue, with no continuity or accountability, making it impossible to properly engage or resolve the matter.

The TV remains faulty and unreliable. I am not prepared to accept another repair and require a replacement or refund.

Despite escalation to Massmart, I have received no meaningful response.

This level of service and delay is unacceptable.

Makro, this response is not acceptable.

This matter has been ongoing since 4 April 2026. The unit was already repaired once, and the same fault has returned and is getting worse.

Referring this to an “extended warranty team” does not resolve the issue and does not remove Makro’s responsibility as the supplier.

I am no longer prepared to accept further delays, internal referrals, another repair, or a replacement.

I require a full refund.

A formal complaint has already been lodged with the Consumer Goods & Services Ombud (Reference: JDMOQ907).

This matter now requires urgent resolution.

Makro,

I have now been contacted again by your repair contractor (Appliance Repair Centre) attempting to proceed with another repair.

This is unacceptable.

The unit has already been repaired once and has failed again. I have clearly stated that I will not accept any further repairs.

I am not accepting a replacement.

I require a full refund.

This matter has already been escalated to the Consumer Goods & Services Ombud (***).

Please stop attempting repairs and resolve this matter accordingly.

Makro,

Your response is incorrect.

The product has already been repaired once and has failed again. In terms of the Consumer Protection Act, I am entitled to reject the goods after a failed repair and request a refund.

You cannot insist on further repairs or rely on a technician report to override my rights.

I have clearly stated that I will not accept another repair or replacement.

I require a full refund.

This matter has already been escalated to the Consumer Goods & Services Ombud (***), and your refusal to comply will be included in that process.

Please resolve this without further delay.

Makro,

Samsung has now confirmed that the unit was previously faulty and required a major component replacement (indoor PC board) under service order number *** on 28.05.2025.

The product has therefore already been repaired following a confirmed defect and has since failed again.

In terms of the Consumer Protection Act, I am entitled to reject the goods after a failed repair.

I require a full refund.

Makro,

This matter has now been ongoing since 4 April 2026.

Given that the unit has already been repaired following a confirmed defect and has failed again, I have rejected the goods and require a full refund.

If this matter is not resolved within 48 hours, I will proceed with further escalation, including formal complaints to the National Consumer Commission.

I expect this to be resolved without further delay.

This response is not acceptable.

I am not entering another repair cycle. The unit has already undergone a major component replacement and has failed again.

My agreement is with Makro / Massmart, not Samsung. You remain responsible for supplying a product that is of acceptable quality and durable.

You may arrange for a technician to verify the fault if required, but this must not delay or restart the process. I require written confirmation that this will be resolved as a refund or replacement, not another repair.

Please confirm this outcome directly.

This matter is already with the National Consumer Commission (***/04/0492).

This has been an extremely frustrating and drawn-out process.

I have had to chase responses, deal with incorrect information, and still have no clear resolution despite multiple escalations.

Even the initial repair — which involved a major component replacement — did not resolve the issue, and the unit has failed again.

At this point, my confidence in both the product and the process is completely gone. I do not wish to continue dealing with repeated delays and uncer*****y.

I expect this matter to be concluded with a refund without any further unnecessary steps.

Makro / Massmart,
Your latest response is incorrect and ignores the full history of this matter. For clarity:
  • TV purchased on 16/12/2023
  • Service call logged on 4 April 2026 (***)
  • I was advised on 7 April that a technician would contact me within 3–5 working days
  • Ralph from Makro Extended Warranty Insurance inspected the TV on 9 April

During that inspection it was clearly explained that this is a repeat failure.
Importantly, this TV already underwent a major repair by Samsung on 28/05/2025, where a faulty indoor PC board was replaced.
The same issue has now reoccurred. So please explain — what was the purpose of sending Ralph if you are now restarting the process again?
This matter has been ongoing since 4 April with no outcome.
I will allow an inspection if required, however:
  • Only an authorised Samsung technician will be permitted
  • This is for confirmation only
  • This must not restart the repair process or delay the outcome

The unit has already been repaired once and has failed again. I have rejected the goods and require a refund.

Makro / Massmart,

I have now received an email from your system stating:

“Your case has been resolved.”

This is completely incorrect.

There has been:
• No refund
• No resolution
• No outcome communicated

At the same time, your team is still requesting that the process be restarted with another technician inspection.

This confirms a serious breakdown in your internal processes, where cases are being marked as resolved while no actual resolution has taken place.

This matter remains unresolved and ongoing since 4 April 2026.

I have already rejected the goods and require a refund.

Makro / Massmart,

This is now beyond unacceptable.

You are attempting to force me into another repair cycle, and if I refuse, you threaten to close the service call.

Let’s be clear:

  • The TV already had a major Samsung repair on 28/05/2025
  • The same fault has returned
  • Your own representative (Ralph) inspected the unit on 9 April 2026
  • This has been ongoing since 4 April 2026
Now, instead of resolving the issue, you are:
  • Restarting the process
  • Ignoring the full history
  • And using “case closure” as pressure
That is not service — that is deliberate delay and avoidance. I have not refused inspection.
I have refused to be pushed through another failed repair process. You may send a Samsung technician for confirmation only, but the outcome is not another repair. The product has already failed after repair.
I have rejected the goods and require a refund. Closing the case under these circumstances only confirms that your internal process is designed to avoid resolution rather than provide it. This matter remains escalated to the National Consumer Commission

MAKRO IS NOW DELIBERATELY MISREPRESENTING THIS CASE TO AVOID ACCOUNTABILITY.

Let me correct this publicly:

I DID NOT REFUSE ASSESSMENT.

What I have stated — repeatedly and clearly — is that I will ONLY allow a Samsung-authorised technician to inspect a Samsung television that:
• Has already been repaired once
• Has now suffered the EXACT SAME FAILURE again

Yet Makro has chosen to twist this into:
“the customer refuses assessment”

This is not an error.
This is not a misunderstanding.
This is a deliberate attempt to manipulate the narrative in order to close the case.

FACTS:
• The TV was purchased on 16/12/2023
• A Samsung repair was carried out
• The same fault has reoccurred
• The matter has been ongoing since 4 April 2026
• I have remained fully engaged and cooperative throughout

WHAT MAKRO IS DOING:

Instead of addressing a clear repeat failure, they are:
• Restarting the process
• Ignoring the repair history
• Attempting to introduce new technicians
• Misrepresenting the customer’s position
• Closing cases without resolution

THIS IS NOT A SERVICE ISSUE.
THIS IS A PROCESS FAILURE BEING USED TO AVOID LIABILITY.

LET ME BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR:

I have NOT refused assessment.
I have AGREED to a Samsung technician.
I have REJECTED repeated ineffective repair cycles.

THE PRODUCT HAS ALREADY FAILED AFTER REPAIR.
THIS IS A REPEAT FAILURE — NOT A NEW CLAIM.

Closing a case under these circumstances and shifting blame onto the customer is not only unacceptable —
it raises serious concerns about how Makro handles warranty claims and consumer rights.

TO ANYONE READING THIS:

Take note of how quickly cooperation can be reframed as “non-compliance” when it suits the company’s internal process.

CURRENT STATUS:
• Case still unresolved
• No accountability
• No refund

Thank you for confirming that a Samsung technician will now be arranged.

However, let’s be absolutely clear — this is NOT a new issue. This is a REPEAT FAILURE following a prior repair.

FACTS:

• The TV has already been repaired once
• The SAME FAULT has reoccurred
• This has been ongoing since 4 April 2026
• The case was previously marked as “RESOLVED” with no actual resolution

That is the concern.

A product that has already failed after repair is now being placed back into the same repair cycle again, as if nothing has happened.

Restarting the process does not change the fact that the product has already proven to be unreliable.

Let me be equally clear:

I will cooperate with the Samsung technician inspection.

BUT — this inspection must lead to a FINAL OUTCOME, not another extended delay.

Please confirm the following, publicly:

👉 The exact timeline for technician attendance
👉 That a FULL WRITTEN TECHNICAL REPORT will be provided
👉 What the FINAL RESOLUTION will be if the same fault is confirmed again

Because at this stage:

• The product is still defective
• The issue still exists
• No resolution has been provided
• The customer has been expected to repeat the same process again

This is not a resolution process — it is a delay cycle.

This matter remains unresolved and is already with the NCC:
***/04/0492

I will continue documenting every step of this publicly until a proper resolution is provided.

  • The product is Samsung
  • A prior repair has already failed

🚨 REPEAT FAILURE AFTER REPAIR – NO ACTIONThis is NOT a new fault.FAILED → REPAIRED → FAILED AGAINAfter the previous repair, the TV intermittently powered on with a faint display, indicating that the image was present but the backlight was not functioning correctly. This has progressively worsened and now requires repeated power resets at the plug for the TV to function. The TV now struggles to start consistently. An intermittent buzzing sound was also experienced when connected to the soundbar, which stopped once the soundbar was disconnected, indicating unstable output behaviour from the TV.This confirms a hardware-related fault affecting display power/backlight operation. The fault has never been resolved — it has deteriorated.Despite this:❌ No technician booked

LET ME MAKE THIS CRYSTAL CLEAR AGAIN:

✅ I HAVE ALREADY AGREED TO THE TECHNICIAN

SO WHY ARE YOU STILL SENDING THE SAME RESPONSE OVER AND OVER AGAIN INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY BOOKING THE TECHNICIAN?

⚠️ IF A TECHNICIAN REPORT IS REQUIRED — THEN SEND THE TECHNICIAN.

The constant copy-and-paste replies, endless delays, new case numbers, false “resolved” statuses, and complete lack of action are becoming beyond unacceptable.

🔴 THIS RESPONSE PERFECTLY SUMMARISES THE ENTIRE PROBLEM 🔴

For weeks I have been bounced between Makro, Samsung, and the extended warranty administrators while the television remains defective and unresolved.

Makro now states that they are “unable to provide the resolution requested” while simultaneously confirming that the matter has simply been handed off elsewhere.

Meanwhile:

• the TV continues to suffer from the same recurring defect
• the matter has been ongoing since 4 April 2026
• I continue receiving contradictory communication and repeated case resets
• I have repeatedly confirmed IN WRITING that I am willing to allow inspection of the TV at my premises by an AUTHORISED SAMSUNG TECHNICIAN

⚠️ THIS IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM ⚠️

YES — the extended warranty team contacted me.

AND YES — they are STILL attempting to remove the television instead of doing the ONE thing that has repeatedly been requested for WEEKS.

I have stated MULTIPLE TIMES, both publicly and in writing, that I am willing to allow inspection of the television AT MY PREMISES by an AUTHORISED SAMSUNG TECHNICIAN to verify that this is the SAME RECURRING DEFECT that was previously repaired during the warranty period.

THIS HAS BEEN MADE CRYSTAL CLEAR.

On THURSDAY, 7 MAY 2026 at approximately 11:00, I was specifically informed that an authorised Samsung technician would be arranged.

TODAY IS NOW 11 MAY 2026.

STILL NOTHING.
NO TECHNICIAN.
NO APPOINTMENT.
NO CONFIRMATION.
NO ACTION.

ONLY MORE DELAYS, MORE CASE NUMBERS, MORE SCRIPTED RESPONSES AND MORE PASSING THE BUCK BETWEEN MAKRO, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY TEAM AND SAMSUNG.

⚠️ STOP PASSING THE BUCK AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS MATTER. ⚠️

This television was PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED and has now FAILED AGAIN with what appears to be the EXACT SAME UNDERLYING FAULT.

At this point, the handling of this matter has become COMPLETELY UNREASONABLE.

I HAVE NEVER REFUSED INSPECTION BY AN AUTHORISED SAMSUNG TECHNICIAN.

What I HAVE refused is being dragged into another endless collection-and-return cycle without first verifying the recurring defect that was supposedly repaired previously.

⚠️ FOR WEEKS I HAVE BEEN TOLD:
“WE ARE SENDING A TECHNICIAN.”

WELL THEN SEND THE TECHNICIAN. ⚠️

Not another call.
Not another apology.
Not another automated response.
NOT ANOTHER CASE RESET.

AN ACTUAL AUTHORISED SAMSUNG TECHNICIAN.

Please confirm IMMEDIATELY and IN WRITING:

✔ THE DATE AND TIME the authorised Samsung technician will attend
✔ THE NAME OF THE TECHNICIAN OR SERVICE CENTRE
✔ WHY THIS HAS STILL NOT HAPPENED despite the undertaking given on 7 May 2026

Because from where I am sitting, this now looks less like customer service and more like a deliberate strategy of DELAY, DEFLECTION and AVOIDANCE.

🚨 MAKRO / SAMSUNG – NOBODY CAN EVEN SAY WHO REPAIRED THE TV DURING WARRANTY 🚨

This entire situation has become absolutely unbelievable.

A Samsung TV was supposedly repaired during warranty through Makro Cape Gate, yet now Samsung cannot properly confirm:

❌ WHO repaired the TV
❌ WHAT was actually repaired
❌ WHICH parts were replaced
❌ WHAT the original fault diagnosis was
❌ WHERE the complete repair records are

And now the EXACT SAME fault appears to have returned.

⚠️ SO HOW DOES A CONSUMER TRUST THIS PROCESS? ⚠️

A MAJOR WARRANTY REPAIR was done through THEIR OWN AUTHORISED CHANNELS, yet nobody can properly account for it.

Instead of proper answers, I keep receiving:

🔴 endless case numbers
🔴 scripted copy-and-paste replies
🔴 contradictory communication
🔴 delays with no actual resolution
🔴 promises of technician inspections that never happen
🔴 responsibility constantly shifted between Makro, Samsung and service providers

I have repeatedly confirmed IN WRITING:

✔ I am willing to allow inspection of the TV
✔ the inspection may happen at my premises
✔ the inspection must be done by an AUTHORISED Samsung technician

Yet this matter has STILL not been resolved.

⚠️ THIS IS EXACTLY HOW CONSUMERS GET TRAPPED IN A BROKEN SYSTEM ⚠️

Nobody takes ownership. Nobody gives straight answers. Nobody follows through.

Meanwhile the consumer is left sitting with:

❌ a recurring defect
❌ a failed repair dispute
❌ ongoing delays
❌ worsening issues with the TV and sound system
❌ weeks of wasted time chasing basic answers

At this stage it honestly feels like the entire system is designed to exhaust consumers until they give up.

🚨 MAKRO / SAMSUNG SOUTH AFRICA – THIS HAS BECOME AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE 🚨

This television was PREVIOUSLY repaired for what now appears to be the SAME recurring fault.

The latest technician findings allegedly state that the:

  • SCREEN/PANEL,
  • MAIN BOARD,
  • and BACKLIGHT
all require replacement. Read that again carefully. The SCREEN.
The MAIN BOARD.
The BACKLIGHT. That is effectively the ENTIRE TELEVISION. Yet after weeks of delays, endless escalations, contradictory communication, workshop threats, and copy-and-paste responses, Makro STILL responds with: “the repairs team will contact you.” At this point this is no longer customer service failure.
This is complete systemic incompetence. The TV is now showing:
  • severe display abnormalities,
  • visible dark shadowing,
  • uneven illumination,
  • instability issues,
  • internal watchdog/recovery faults,
  • recurring operational failures,
  • and worsening panel deterioration.
This is AFTER a previous repair. Consumers spend enormous amounts of money on PREMIUM products expecting PREMIUM support — not to become trapped in an endless nightmare of:
  • failed repairs,
  • repeated case numbers,
  • recycled scripted responses,
  • and zero accountability.
No reasonable person buys a flagship QLED television expecting to have HALF THE TV REPLACED after already going through a prior repair process. I have completely lost confidence in:
  • Samsung,
  • Makro,
  • the repair process,
  • and the entire after-sales support structure surrounding this product.
What makes this even worse is that nobody seems willing to take ownership of the situation while the television continues deteriorating in front of me. At this stage the product has effectively become a rebuild project rather than a functioning premium television. Absolutely shocking.
Absolutely unacceptable.
Absolutely disgraceful. #Makro

So once again this proves that nobody at Makro actually knows what is going on with this case.

An AUTHORISED Samsung technician from Appliance Centre was already at my premises yesterday and confirmed that the TV requires:
• screen/backlight replacement
• board replacement

Yet less than 24 hours later I receive another generic copy-and-paste response saying “the repairs team will contact you” and “the item may need to be collected”.

This is exactly the problem:
❌ no communication
❌ no proper case management
❌ no accountability
❌ scripted responses with no understanding of the actual status of the case

The fact that your own social media team is completely unaware that the inspection already took place says everything about how badly this matter is being handled.

This matter has been ongoing since April and consumers should not have to fight this hard for proper after-sales support on a premium product.

At this stage I have completely lost confidence in Makro, the repair process, and the handling of this matter as a whole. I do NOT want a replacement unit through Makro. I maintain my demand for a FULL REFUND so I can take my business elsewhere.

Another copy-and-paste response that means absolutely nothing. The Samsung technician has ALREADY confirmed the TV requires a backlight and board replacement, yet Makro still responds as if nobody even knows what is going on.Weeks of delays, scripted replies, endless “we are following up” messages, and zero accountability.I want a FULL REFUND — not more empty responses.#Makro #SamsungSouthAfrica #SamsungTV #QLED #ConsumerRights #CustomerServiceFailure #FailedRepair #WarrantyFailure #HelloPeter #MakroSouthAfrica #SamsungSupport #ConsumerComplaint #SouthAfrica

For the LAST TIME — I DO NOT WANT THIS TV REPAIRED. I DEMAND A FULL REFUND.

Your response once again proves that nobody at Makro or Samsung even understands what is going on with this case.

An authorised Samsung technician has ALREADY inspected the TV and confirmed that the SCREEN, BACKLIGHT, and MAIN BOARD require replacement. At that point, the television is clearly NOT economically or reasonably repairable.

Yet I continue receiving generic copy-and-paste responses about “awaiting quotations” as if nobody has even read the case history.

This matter has dragged on long enough.

I have completely lost confidence in both the product and the handling of this matter.

I WILL NOT ACCEPT:
• further delays
• further scripted responses
• further repair attempts
• further process resets

I demand a FULL REFUND in terms of the Consumer Protection Act relating to failed repairs and recurring defects.

Your generic replies mean absolutely nothing anymore.
