Makro Laptop Problems

I recently had the displeasure of buying a laptop computer from Makro.

In January 2021 I purchased the laptop for my children to do their school projects and homework research. Unfortunately due to the pandemic the school opening was delayed and we only opened the laptop and set it up for use in March when school started. From the start the laptop was problematic in that it was relatively slow but I didnt think anything of it as I expected that it needed to do software updates so once updated I handed it over to the kids for their homework needs. By May 2021 I noticed that the children were frequently asking to use my laptop to do their homework assignments and I asked why they weren't using their own laptop to which they rep**** that it was too slow. The following weekend I returned the laptop to Makro for a refund, repairs or exchange and the staff at Makro informed me that it had been too long since the purchase of the laptop for a refund but that they will repair the unit and return it to me in due course. In June 2021 Makro contacted me to collect the laptop. Upon testing it at Makro I found that there was no improvement in performance and that it was still exactly the same as when I brought it in during May 2021. We argued and they said thay would try and run the software updates again. In July 2021 the Makro staff contacted me again to collect the laptop, again we tested it and again there was no change. The laptop literally took 5 minutes to start up. After some discussion the customer service manager offered to get me a credit note for the laptop and take the matter up with their supplier (Lenovo).

Since then it has been non stop issues. Not only does Makro refuse to refund my money, they also do not return calls and they apparently now cannot even find the laptop.

Makro is a nightmare to deal with and I am at a point where I am just going to report the laptop as ****** and claim it from insurance and the insurance company can deal with Makro to resolve this matter.

Anybody reading this review, be very careful when buying electronic equipment from Makro. Best to use a reputable dealer in electronic equipment
