Makro fails dismally yet again!
Ordered an air fryer online on 27 November 2021 for R3999 and it still hasn’t been delivered to me. Stipulated delivery time was 3-5 working days, I’ve been waiting for 23 working days and counting!!! We are now in 2022! I called the customer support line on 28 December 2021 and was informed that the item was with the courier company for delivery, the agent then proceeded to tell me that the courier company actually doesn’t have the item and that the matter would be escalated - essentially my order is LOST! I was told that I would receive feedback within 24-48 hours. Alas! Over 48 hours passed with NO FEEDBACK. So I called the customer support line AGAIN on 31 December 2021. this time I was told that the store (Makro Woodmead) is trying to “locate my order” and I will receive feedback when they have located it. I asked for feedback by EOD that day (31 January) because I called in the morning, giving them ample time to revert to me. Alas! I have heard not heard from them at all. I am not sure why my item needs to be “located” when I could just receive another one, because surely customer service should be a priority when Makro has messed up so badly here, but Makro is not a brand that is known for good customer service and experience so I guess I am expecting too much to get what I paid for. I even tried reaching out to Makro via Twitter with no luck. Makro has taken R3999 from me and has not given me what I ordered and paid for on 27 November 2021. Today is 02 January 2022. PLEASE deliver my item to me or simply refund me! It is MY MONEY!!! This is **************** and the lack of urgency, care, respect and overarching customer service is embarrassing and downright pathetic. If the item is not delivered to me or if MY MONEY is not refunded to me by the end of this week (07 January 2022, making it 28 working days from the date of the order and payment), I will be taking the legal action along with lodging a formal complaint to the Gauteng Office of Consumer Affairs. According to the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) 2008, South African consumers have many rights, including “Fair and Honest Dealing; Fair, Just and Reasonable Terms and Conditions; and Accountability by Suppliers“. Makro is in direct breach of these rights and does not care at all.
