MAKRO DOES NOT KEEP UP TO THEIR PROMISES

The MAKRO Ottery paint division is at a total loss when it comes to their pricing and keeping up to their promises. Since last week MAKRO Ottery had offered and promised me the Dulux 20 litre paint for R759, then their prices miraculously increases to R769 and finally R839. All these pricing variations despite them promising me the price of R759. Here’s the story: I had called MAKRO Ottery for the price of Dulux Weather Guard. I needed 15 by 20 litres! After negotiation with Sedrick (via his manager), it was agreed that I will get each 20 litre for R759. I then went into MAKRO Ottery on June 15 and purchased ONE 20 litre to take home and test the color. I asked about stock and was told by Sedrick that they have enough stock available. On the next day June 16, I went back to MAKRO to buy 15 drums of 20 litre Dulux Paint (color - La Casa) – which is over more than R11,000. I was told that they only had FOUR 20l drums available, however, I could pay and take the four 20litre drums of paint and the remainder (11) I can pick up during this week (June 18-22) as soon as the stock arrives. On Tuesday June 19 I get a call from Sedrick who says that his manager cannot sell me the paint at R759 any longer and I will need to pay R769 per 20l. I then get another call from Khanyile and then Edwin Boer on June 19, who told me that they cannot keep to their promise of R759 nor R769. I will now need to pay R839 per 20 l drum. Shocking!!! A good R80 increase per 20l drum of paint, despite them promising to maintain the price of R759 for my entire purchase of 15 litres. Talk about commitment to the customer! Hard to believe that MAKRO can change their prices from R759 to R839 in a matter of THREE DAYS.
