Makro clothing

I purchased a sweater from Makro Clothing in Amanzimtoti Durban. I didn’t get a chance to wear it. Yesterday, I decided to wear it. As I put it on, I see there is a hole in the middle, which is from the way it was made, like some stitches slipped from the machine. I decided to take it back to Makro. But because of the flooding here in KZN, the roads were safer to take it back to Makro in Springfield, as it was closer. I went into the returns department and the lady advised me that because the item was bought damaged, the manger will have to make a decision. She called the manager by the name of Mel Pillay, who told her that she isn’t coming to the returns department, the lady helping me, must come to her. I waited, she went to see Mel. When she returned, She stated that Mel told her that I need to go back to the store I bought it at, as it is damaged. I thought that maybe she is saying that because they don’t have stock of the item I purchased. So before I left, I went into the store and saw that they do have the item in stock. I must now drive all the way to Amanzimtoti, where the roads are damaged. Please could I find out if this is Makro’s policy or only Makro Springfield’s policy? So I know never to shop at Makro clothes again.
