Makro Cheap Workmanship on product and refusing to exchange!!!! They have turned to China Mall

I bought a headboard over two months ago and the colour is now darker and the material smells so bad. Mind you this is for an empty room so no one sleeps there as I’m busy with renovations. Upon finally deciding to return this product, the store rejected my request without even asking for pictures or doing any quality checks. I find this very unacceptable as unprofessional for such an established store. The product is very poor quality and lately I’ve just been returning or giving away things bought from them due to cheap workmanship. Now they refuse to honour warranty I need help!!!!!!!
