Makro Cancelled My Order, **** About Stock, and Gave Horrible Customer Service

I placed an order with Makro online on Sunday, 10 August 2025, for a coffee machine that was advertised at R1,133. I received an SMS on Tuesday, 12 August saying the order was cancelled. When I called customer service, I was told the cancellation was due to “no stock.”

That explanation is not true.

I immediately checked online and found the same coffee machine still listed as in stock (six units available) — but now priced at R1,550. I have a screen recording proving that the item still appeared at R1,133 in Google listings, but changed to R1,550 when clicked, showing that stock was still available, just at a higher price.

When I questioned the agent, he told me the website “hadn’t updated yet” and that’s why the stock still showed. But if that were the case, then how was the price already updated, but not the stock? That explanation doesn’t make sense and clearly shows the cancellation was due to a pricing issue, not a stock issue — and I was **** to.

To make matters worse:

The first agent refused to put me through to a supervisor and said “no one is going to deal with this.” I was kept on hold for over 30 minutes without any response. When I called again and spoke to Norma, she also put me on hold and then told me no one was available to help me. She asked for my contact number so her manager could call me on, I was no allowed to hold on for longer nor tell me who would be contacting me. She claimed that giving me the first name of the supervisor would be a POPIA violation, which is completely untrue — I only asked for a first name, not personal data. She also refused to send an email to her manager or give me confirmation of who would handle the matter. This entire experience was frustrating, dishonest, and a complete failure of customer service. What I Want: I want my order fulfilled at the original price of R1,133. I want my original delivery date honoured — Saturday, 16 August 2025. I want this resolved no later than Wednesday, 13 August 2025. I want a proper apology for the false information and the way I was treated. If this is not resolved, I will escalate to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) and report it under the Consumer Protection Act for misleading pricing and poor conduct. (a price that is not so drastically low as to constitute an "obvious error" under Section 23(9) of the Consumer Protection Act.) I have screen recording proof of everything I’ve stated here.

Makro, this is not acceptable. I expect someone to take responsibility and resolve this properly — not more excuses and runarounds.

Then why do you call agents lie?
As stated I have a screen recording of the item I ordered from THE SUPPLIER I originally ordered from.

Please explain?
