Makro and Hisense TV Repair Saga

I purchased a 40inch Hisense TV from Makro Bloemfontein in May/June 2016.

I have had no issues with the device until November 2016, it would not switch on, as it was still under warranty I booked it in at Makro for repairs.

Makro then sent the TV to their repair centre.

The first feedback I received was that they have ordered spare parts from Johannesburg, a week later the parts ordered weren’t the correct size and I was then informed that the Motherboard inside the TV was for a 32inch TV not my 40inch TV.

I stressed that I had not taken my television anywhere else for repairs as it was still under warranty; it wouldn’t make any logical sense for me to take it for repairs elsewhere.

I have contacted the Makro head office to assist with this investigation, I am not satisfied with the feedback received because it is now my word the buyer against the seller.

1. Anybody could have broken the warranty seal, I asked where on the TV the warranty seal is situated and it was confirmed that it is at the back of the TV on the exterior. No checks were made when I handed in the TV that the warranty seal was broken.

2. The ***** that is missing is on the foot of the TV stand, this could’ve been lost at any stage and it really doesn’t confirm whether the TV was tampered with or not by a 3rd party as they are claiming.

3. The 32inch Motherboard inside the TV has only been discovered now, my TV is about 6 months old now, it has not given me any issues until now. Would the seller accept fault that they might have given me the TV like this? I highly doubt it, however I repeat that I have not taken my TV anywhere else accept for Makro.

I will not waste everyone’s time especially if I know that I am in the wrong; an issue that started as my TV not switching on has now become a huge mystery as to how this board ended up in my TV set.

I would also like to know how this 32inch motherboard ended up in my TV as it was given to me in the sealed box from the sales consultant.

What is even more frustrating is having to go back on forth on a he said, she said, I would really appreciate resolution on this matter soonest.

Very unhappy
