Makro Alberton

I had probably the worst experience as a customer in my entire life toady at Makro in Alberton.

While grocery shopping, I picked up what I thought was 10 toothpastes under their 10 for R100 deal. paid for the stuff I bought, security checked and I was on my way. as I was packing my groceries in the car I realised that I had 8 toothpastes instead of 10. I checked the slip to double check and indeed I had paid for 10.

initially I thought maybe 2 of them fell between leaving the store to my car but I decided to go back and ask anyway. I spoke to the lady who did the check and she said to me that she scanned indeed scanned 8 during her control.

at this point I expected this to be a very simple matter of giving me the 2 toothpastes I had paid for so I could be on my way but things took a turn for the worst.

They insisted that they had a procedure to follow under such circumstances which I didn't have a problem with but I did explain to them that I am pressed for time.

as it seemed that it would take longer than I was willing to wait, I suggested made a suggestion. Because we all know that one cannot buy from Mark without a card which has ALL my details, I even offered that they could make a copy of my drivers license as well as give them my number should they need to contact me if they find any wrong doing from me during their "procedure." I honestly felt that at this point the issue should've been resolved with their security who made the mistake.

I ended up so frustrated that I started to raise my voice and speaking almost at the top of my lungs. The lack of customer service reached a peak and that's when I decided to just let the whole thing go.

if you're going to hire managers provide training for them, or at least hire people with decent peoples skills and able to apply common sense.

I will not pretend that I will no longer buy from Marko because I will, it is convenient for my family and I but after todays experience its only a matter of time until I stop shopping there completely. a manager with common sense would understand that losing a customer is not worth R30 toothpaste(which Wass paid for). It was an embarrassing experience and quite a sad one because I've witnessed the very same staff jump through flaming hoops for white customers.

The attitude and treatment we get for being black customers is highly unacceptable, we're not being difficult because "we think we're better", we simply expect value for our hard earned money.
