Makro against the Consumer protection act
Bought a petrol trim tec bush cutter on the 4th of January, used it once and it stopped working. Took it back to makro on the 13th of January. Asked for a refund, but was told product needs to be sent to supplier for assessment to evaluate what the cause of problem was and that can take 2 weeks to be assessed. On the 27th was advised product was ready for collection and was told telephonically that the spark plug was replaced and I should come collect. Went on the 6th of February to ask for a refund or credit, as I didn't want a repaired product which didn't work after only one use. I was denied a refund or store credit and was told that the person who advised on the spark plug being replace was wrong and gave me the incorrect information, as the supplier said the spark plug needed to be cleaned and then the product would be in working order. I was then told that I need to take the product back and only if I encounter a problem for at least 3 times I can ask for a refund and makro would have to fight with the supplier to get this refund.I think this is unacceptable that I was sold an inferior product and that I would need to know that the spark plug must be cleaned in order to be in normal working condition.I was advised to contact the supplier directly regarding my concerns and problems with the product which is even more frustrating. This experience is leaving me doubt all the products that Makro sells. Makro sells me an inferior product and I must deal with their supplier, this doesn't make sense to me. I also informed them that as per the consumer protection act I can get a full refund on a defective product but was told that this does not apply. It seems like the consumer protection act does not apply to Makro.
This goes against the credit protection act and I will be taking this up further.
Makro accept inferior quality products from your suppliers and your customers must suffer.
