Losses suffered due to terrible customer service
I bought a trailor from Makro in Dec 2018 for bussines use. When we returned from holiday, I noticed paint bubbles on the lid. We returned it to Makro on 4 Jan 2019 and they booked it for repairs. Every week since Feb, I called at least 1 a week to follow up on my trailor, as i desperately needed it for work. I lost a lot of jobs during Jan due to the fact that I didn't have a trailor but I never knew it would take so long to respray the lid. Everytime I followed up in Feb, I was told "let us phone our supplier and get back to you" but nobody ever phoned me back. I had to purchase another trailor during Feb, as I could not afford to loose so much money. I still phoned weekly to follow up, but they never have answers, and always promise to call me back but never did. I decided to go in and speak to a manager (Pakiso) - and again he begged me to give him until the next morning to find out what was going on, and phone me back and against everything inside me, I accepted and walked away. I waited 3 days for his call, nothing. That's when I decided to go back to Makro Wonderboom Pretoria and I insisted to speak to the branch Manager. Unfortunately he was not available and they referred me to the deputy branch manager, Mr Joe Erasmus. He apologised for the poor customer service i've had thus far and got the Director of the company that supply Makro with trailers (Karet Trading) on the line, in front of me. That's when I heard the whole truth about what is happening with my trailor... The guys from Makro could not get hold of the suppliers and therefore my trailor was never sent for repairs. Only after I went into the store and threw my toys out of the cot on Sunday 17 Feb, did they finally sent my trailor in for the repairs the following Monday 18 Feb. So my trailor was standing in Makro's back yard for almost 7 weeks while I was loosing money! Joe put me on the phone with the Director of Kater Trading, (Rocky) who supplies the trailers to Makro, only to hear the same old story again, "Give me 2 or 3 days and I will get back to you or have your trailor sorted out" I must be crazy to just simply agree! They have waisted my time, **** to me and caused me to loose a lot of work and money. I could have used my trailor during the time it was standing in their back yard. I asked for a refund because I had to buy a second hand trailor(R8000) to save my business. He just refused and told me that since the trailor was registered on my name, they can't take it back. I feel they can sc**** it and re-register it on Makro's name and use it for promotions or deliveries or whatever they feel like. The trailor is brand new, as I bought it in Dec before going on holiday and when we returned home from holiday, in Jan, we noticed the paint that was making bubbles on the lid and handed it in immediately as we knew we needed it urgently for work. They have had the trailor for much longer than me, since the day I bought it. I will report Makro to ombudsman as I insist on a refund and they refused! They should be careful I don't sue for losses suffered and the other trailor I had to purchase, while my trailor was standing in their back yard! I have NEVER before experienced such poor customer service from an entire company right up to management and directors!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I'm sorry to hear about the experience you've had at one of our Makro store. I can assure you that this is certainly not the type of service we would want you to receive.
I will make sure that the concerns raised will be passed on to management at store.
Feedback will be provided as soon as I've received any.
Kind regards,
Otsiele Boikanyo
