I was sold a defective fridge and I am not receiving assistance

On Saturday, 24 February 2024 I bought a Hisense fridge on the Makro online store. This was delivered to my address on the morning of Monday, 26 February. I lit the fridge later that evening as per instruction from the delivery team. On Tuesday, 27 February I realised that the fridge was still warm and had not yet started getting cold, although I had followed all instructions. This puzzled me however I shook it off thinking that perhaps as the fridge was new it needed some time. Upon realising on Wednesday, 28 February that the fridge was still not cooling I logged a return of the fridge on the online platform. The platform showed that the closest available date to collect the fridge would be Monday, 4 March. I felt that this was too far, as this constituted an emergency and my food was starting to go bad. As such, I called the call centre to check whether I could rather organise my own transport to bring the fridge back, and I was told no I will have to wait. I proceeded to log the collection for Monday, 4 March online. I received no further communication from Makro and as such on Monday, 4 March I called the call centre to try and figure out what time the fridge would be collected. The agent informed me that the fridge would in fact not be collected and that the agent I had spoken to on Wednesday, 28 February should have informed me that fridges are not collected. He informed me that the agent should have advised me to rather log a call through him, to have a technician come to my house. This was obviously upsetting as I had wasted time waiting for a pick up that would never happen and during this time of waiting all my food went bad. In addition, had I not called the call centre I would have never known that nobody was coming to pick up the fridge. I continued to log the call and I was informed that I would hear back within 24 - 48 hours. I followed up via email on Tuesday, 5 March with the agent however he never returned my mail. I also called the call centre and asked whether I could get a qualified fridge repairer (on my cost) to look at the fridge as the matter was getting out of hand at this point. I was told that doing that would mean my warranty would be voided, so I proceeded to wait for Makro to send out their technician. On Thursday, 7 March I again called the call centre and was advised that the job call had been logged and that I should receive a job card by end of day and that a technician would be in touch with me immediately after receiving the job card. It is now the afternoon of Friday, 8 March and not a peep from Makro. I have spent so much time and airtime following up on this issue with no progress being made. I am now sitting with a defective fridge for almost 2 weeks and I am honest at my wits' end. This is the poorest customer service I have ever received from a store and it is totally unacceptable.

While I appreciate the response, it is so generic with NO help at all. It is clear that it is a copy and paste of a standard response to all customer queries, as there isn’t even the slightest mention of my issue. It is now Saturday, 9 March and I am still without a fridge and still without any form of help from the Makro team. Totally unacceptable.
