Horrible service

I purchase a chrome bath shower mixer from Makro on the 25th Feb, I called in to cancel the order because it was delayed as I urgently needed it. I was assured by the agents I spoke with that the order was indeed cancelled 4 days later I was not sent any updates confirming the cancellation I called them back only to be told the order was being delivered will need to reject it but the driver refused to return with it , I then logged a return still no update at all. The item is still sealed and in a delivery package. What kind of nonsense is this what kind of online shopping does not allow you to return the item in store and get your refund hassle free, because with big loyal online shopping like builders, takealot their returns and refunds are hassle free they value their customers.
