Horrible online shopping experience
I am extremely disappointed with my first online shopping experience with Makro. I placed an online order on 01 March 2026, and on 06 March 2026 I received a 12.5 kg bag of flour that expires on 14 March 2026. That gives me barely 8 days before it expires. How exactly is any household expected to use 12.5 kg of flour in just over a week? What makes this even worse is that the product was not marked as short-dated, discounted, or clearance stock. I paid full price for a product that is practically at the end of its shelf life. If this had been clearly indicated when ordering, I would obviously not have purchased it.
To add to the frustration, this was my first time ordering online from Makro, and it has already turned into a nightmare. Out of the five items I ordered, I have had to return three due to various issues. That is more than half my order. The inconvenience and time wasted dealing with returns completely defeats the purpose of online shopping.
Selling bulk staple products like flour with only a few days left before expiry shows a serious lack of quality control and respect for customers. When customers buy in bulk, we expect reasonable shelf life, not products that are practically expiring on arrival. This experience has been incredibly frustrating, disappointing, and inconvenient. Makro seriously needs to review how online orders are fulfilled and ensure that customers are not being sent short-dated products without warning. Very poor first impression
