GOODS SHORT SUPP**** AT MAKRO GERMISTON.

Last Sunday a friend and me went to Makro to purchase lawn dressing, potting soil and compost. Between us we bought 10 bags in total. You pay for it inside and then it is loaded outside by the flower stall. A salesman was sent with us by the security guard to load the bags onto a trolley which he did but was very confused as there was two of us with different slips. When he had loaded the bags we went to the security to "check the quantity" and stamp the slips. The security was lazy and did not bother to count the bags to see if the quantity was correct but just looked at the trolley and she just stamped the two slips without counting the bags on the trolley. When I got home I found that there was a bag of potting soil short. I phoned the store and asked to speak to the manger and was put on hold until the call was cut. I phoned again and this time I was told the Moses the manager was away till Tuesday and I must phone on Tuesday. I decided to send an e-mail to the customer services department which I sent on Sunday afternoon. On Wednesday I received a reply advising that it had been escalated to Germiston management. To date I have had no rely from Germiston. I was in the store today and asked to speak to the manager and the salesman from the gardening section came and asked what the problem was and I explained the whole story to him.

He ask the guard to call the guy who loaded the trolley to come and speak to him. He that he loaded the correct amount and that I was wrong and he also said that security checked the trolley before stamping the slips. Security confirmed that she checked the quantity but when I said you did not she said that was not true. The salesman advised me that it was my fault and that there was nothing he could to to help me. At that stage I left because it was obvious that he was going to do nothing about it. So Be warned when you shop at Makro and you buy goods that are outside check yourself before you leave as Security are lazy and will not count bags on the trolley. Be warned if there is a mistake after you have left Makro the staff will do nothing to sort out the problem they will blame you for not checking. The total cost of a bag of potting soil is R 64.00 so it is obvious that R 64.00 is more important to Makro and good customer satisfaction.
