Generator is a time bomb

In December 2018 I bought a Ryobi Generator from Makro Centurion. In January my brother returned from holiday and helped me to unbox and assemble the wheels and feet. This Item weighs 80 kg so I couldn't do it before I had some help. The generator started fine but when turning it off, huge electrical spark are generated around the machine. There is obviously a short somewhere in the machine and with 25 liters of petrol sitting on top of it, the machine is completely unsafe to use. On 3 Jan 2019 I reported this to the national call centre at Makro. All details were given. I was not given a ref number due to the systems being offline but was told that a service call will be logged and I will be contacted. Got a call the next day to bring the machine in. Explained that due to the weight this will not happen. Okay someone will contact me again. Nothing from them. On the 7 th I complete the form on their website logging a complaint. Nothing. Today 10 Jan I called again, was told Lindeni who took my original call, will call me back. Nothing. I paid almost R9000 together with oil and a Jerrycan for a machine that now gathers dust in the garage. Load shedding is to commence middle January and I still don't have a generator

This is VERY POOR

It is not my job to tell you how to do yours, but if I was my own customer, I would have delivered a replacement unit to my customers door a week ago already. I still need to get an electrician to wire it into my house but I can arrange nothing until the unit is replaced or at least repaired.

Has a call from Makro call centre yesterday 15 January to advise that Sello from Wonderboom branch will attend to my problem. Another day later and really nothing has been done. No word from Sello

I phoned Makro Wonderboom today 17 January. Sello had no knowledge of my complaint which means that again Makro national call centre fed me a load of BS. Sello put me in contact with Ryobi and after realizing that Makro is totally ***********, I will now have to pay a call out fee of R450 to Ryobi to come and look at the generator. I have just never in my life experienced this level of incompetence from a major retailer. Let it be clear that I will not leave it here. I will now log a formal complaint with the ombudsman. This is why we have a consumer protection act.
