Financial loss -!!! No grocery
Here’s a strong but professional HelloPeter complaint you can post:
I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from Makro regarding a faulty fridge purchase.
I received the fridge on 2 May 2026, and on the very same day I contacted Makro to report that the freezer door was not closing properly. How a brand-new faulty fridge was approved for sale and delivered to a customer is beyond me. This was clearly negligence and a complete failure in quality control.
After reporting the issue immediately, I initiated a return and exchange process. Despite receiving approval from Defy for an exchange, I still had to personally drive to Makro Woodmead to request assistance from a manager because nobody was providing proper updates or urgency on the matter.
I was left without a fridge for 11 days because of this situation. During that time, I had no choice but to spend money on takeaways for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as I could not store groceries or cook properly. On top of that, I wasted additional money on airtime and follow-up calls just trying to get updates on my replacement.
Now, after all the inconvenience, stress, extra costs, and poor customer service, I am being offered a R500 voucher as compensation. This amount is completely unreasonable and does not come close to covering the financial loss I suffered because of Makro’s incompetence.
Because of the money I had to spend during those 11 days, I currently do not even have groceries. Customers should not have to suffer financially because a retailer delivered a faulty appliance and failed to resolve the matter efficiently.
I expect Makro to take accountability and provide fair compensation for the unnecessary expenses and inconvenience caused.
