Faulty Bennett Read Washing Machine Purchased from Makro and Unacceptable Customer Service

I am extremely disappointed with the quality of a Bennett Read washing machine I purchased from Makro, as well as the poor customer service I have received while trying to have the issue resolved.

Less than a month after purchasing the washing machine, it developed a fault and damaged one of my jackets during a wash cycle. I find it unacceptable that a brand-new appliance would fail so soon after purchase and cause damage to my personal belongings.

I contacted Makro on Saturday to log a query regarding the faulty machine. During the call, I was not informed of all the information and documentation required for a technician to be dispatched. After sending the information initially requested, I received further communication advising that additional details were needed. This could have been avoided had all requirements been communicated upfront.

Since then, I have been following up to find out when a technician will be sent to inspect the washing machine. Unfortunately, my experience with Makro's customer service has been extremely frustrating. I was transferred between departments multiple times without receiving any meaningful assistance. During the final transfer, my call was disconnected and I was redirected to a customer satisfaction survey without my issue being resolved.

As a customer, I expect better service, especially when dealing with a defective product that is still practically brand new. The lack of communication, constant transfers, and delays in resolving this matter have been unacceptable.

Given that the washing machine became faulty within the first month of purchase and has already damaged my clothing, I believe Makro should take responsibility and provide an urgent resolution. I am requesting either:

• A full refund, or • A replacement washing machine of equal or better value.

I hope Makro addresses this matter urgently and improves the way customer complaints are handled. At this stage, I am extremely dissatisfied with both the product and the level of customer service received.
