False advertising

Makro are advertising a Samsung Soundbar 6.1 channel for R6499. The promo display as well as the description when rung up at the cashier confirms that the unit is indeed a “SAMSUNG 6.1CH CURVED SOUNDBAR(HWJ6000)”. Upon presentation we are given a 2.1 Channel Soundbar and the explanation from the floor staff is that Samsung packaged the unit incorrectly. We requested the manager(Rowland Madhurai) to come to the floor and he informed that he is fully aware of the matter. It surprises me that the unit was advertised for over two months and customers were buying it under the pretence of what is being advertised. Rowland Madhurai’s explanation is that the instruction comes from head office so they, as employees, have to oblige . A senior employee whom is aware of such a transgression and does not act decisively and immediately is an accessory towards the harsh injustices and unfairness that we as South Africans are faced with on a daily basis from big corporates such as Makro. His failure to act in such an instance worries me off the culture which is entrenched in such an organization.
