Expired Food Products Sold, Negligent Customer Service - Makro Cape Gate Branch
I'm appalled by Makro Cape Gate's reckless sale of expired food products, putting customers' health at risk. On September 26, 2024, I purchased Thirsti Sparkling Water, which expired on September 20, 2024. My fiancé consumed it, resulting in persistent stomach issues.
Despite reporting this incident to Makro Customer Service, I've received no meaningful update or compensation. The store hasn't apologized or taken responsibility. Acknowledgment without action is insufficient.
Health Risks: Consuming expired products can lead to food poisoning, stomach issues, and other severe health complications.
Legal Action: I'm considering the following options:
1. National Consumer Commission (NCC) complaint 2. Consumer Protection Act (CPA) claim 3. Damages for medical expenses and emotional distress 4. Reporting to the South African Department of Health
Warning to Consumers: Be cautious when shopping at Makro Cape Gate. Verify expiration dates before purchasing.
Makro: Take immediate action to:
1. Rectify your quality control processes 2. Train staff on expiration date checks 3. Compensate affected customers 4. Provide a formal apology
Unsatisfactory Resolution: I await a comprehensive response from Makro, including compensation and assurance of corrective measures.
