Elderly Man collapsed in the shop

I visited Makro Edenvale today 12th February 2018 at about 15H00 and after shopping I went to the tills to pay. On my exit to the door there was an elderly man lumped over the trolley of goods he had purchased. I was worried as a health professional the way he appeared to have slumped and asked one of the tellers standing nearby whether there was something wrong with the individual but he said the person was sleeping but my instincts told me there was something wrong. I approached the gentleman only to find out he had in fact collapsed and was not feeling well. I tried to establish from him what the problem was but he looked very pale and sweaty and he indicated he felt nausea and requested for water. I immediately asked the tellers is there a first aider on the premises and they said yes and requested for them to call the first aider. However I requested for water from the teller who never brought the water another customer in fact went to buy water from the coffee shop next door to give the gentleman. The person who is the first aider came 20 minutes later after I had tried to revive the man.All the tellers were onlookers even with me insisting that the man needed help. With the assistance of two other lady shoppers we established that the man was living alone and lives in an old age village but could not drive himself home. We asked if someone could be called to fetch him but he said no his daughter lives very far and he has no one else to call. We then asked for a wheelchair to push him to his car as he almost collapsed again and together with the two ladies we assisted him to his car and offered to drive him home as he refused us calling the ambulance. We then drove him home and settled him in and asked the neighbour to keep watch over him until the helper arrived. The gentleman is taking medication but I insisted he seek medical attention as this might happen again. I am just disgusted with the non caring attitude of the staff in this shop and the delay of coming to the aid of shoppers. After all the gentleman had spent a considerable amount of money in this shop by the look of items he purchased and I believe he deserved the courtesy of been helped. We left the shop still the water I requested never came. If that is not insensitivity to human life then I dont know. I feel Makro owes the gentleman a huge apology and I need to know what is going to be done about this matter. I have since phoned him to establish how he was faring and he will be seeing the doctor tomorrow. I cant think what would have happened if I did not assist him. Really Makro!!!!!!!!!! what a disgrace
