Don't every buy a bike at Makro!!

Shocking, shocking, shocking! We bought a Raleigh bike in August from Crown Mines. Firstly they do not even assemble the bike for you except on certain days so we had to pay someone to do it. Within 2 weeks the pedal broke off as my son was riding. We spent hours trying to call customer service as we wanted to return the bike. Eventually they told us that we had to call the the Crown Mines store and speak to the manager. Of course it took countless calls to get through and the manager told us to bring the bike back. We really wanted a refund on the bike. When we got to the store he came to customer service pretty quickly (this was the only positive part). Then he said the pedal IS NOT UNDER ANY WARRANTY and they wouldn't replace them. He and another guy tried to claim that the bike fell and the pedal broke. This was a shocking and disgraceful tactic and a complete fabrication. Eventually they agreed to replace the pedal as we waited. Now a couple of months later the next pedal broke as our son was riding. We obviously don't have hours to wait and beg for a pedal and so it will cost us 150 rand to replace it at the bike shop. Of course if we would've read the reviews on Hello Peter we would never have gone to buy the bike in the first place. Makro has no morals as they keep selling these inferior bikes to unsuspecting customers. Bottom line is we want to return the bike which is extremely poor quality. We truly have no intention of every buying anything at Makro again if this isn't resolved.
