Disrespectful management and customer rights violations

I was at Makro Amanzimtoti 22 December 2022 and 1kg Hot chocolate was displayed at shelves at R60. At the till it was scanning a price double than that on the display. I informed the cashier of the r error and she requested management to assist but after 3 different people arriving NONE could help.

A lady supervisor came to the till and first told that i couldn’t be assisted since management was not on duty to do price overrides. A second lady supervisor also came, heard my query , left quickly went to look for the manager on duty. I waited until almost closing time for the manager to be found . Finally the last person who came after almost 20 minutes of waiting was so arrogant and rude.

He said he had nothing to listen nor to explain and immediately uttered “ You’re NOT getting that item and i don’t care what you saw on display”! He went on to say “You should have seen the fine print and noted that the price is NOT for the item on shelf”.

I actually thought he was joking as i stood in awe. When i asked his name he gave his nickname “Mashimane” and laughed… After several attempts to get his real name i was told Siwakhe Lucas Maphumulo Night shift manager.

He didn’t even apologise for the inconvenience as i had been waiting for him to override the price for such a long time furthermore as per customer service, it’s common courtesy to apologise when at fault. It is merchandisers who display goods and prices and whats on the shelf is the price that we should pay.

It is with greatest disappointment at Makro “Management “ who clearly have no understanding of customer treatment and service standards.

Looking forward to hearing from Makro at your earliest convenience.
