Disgusted

We visited Makro Cornubia to purchase bicycles for our 3 kids aged 14 to 12, after having a terrible experience with another outlet and the Raleigh brand. The sales person from Makro convinced us to purchase their Raleigh bicycles and said that the brand is good and our bad experience from the other store was based on bad assembly by the staff. He assured us that Makro's assembly specialist is renowned and we would not have issues. The bicycles costed R3000 each, so that's a total of R9000. A month later, all 3 bicycles were problematic. My daughter drove over a fence and almost disfigured her face due to the brakes failing. With my 2 sons bicycles, 1 was not taking gears, the seat was rotating and not staying tight in one spot and the chain kept falling along with the pedal from the bicycle which made the bicycles useless. We took it back to Makro, explaining the issues we were having and demanded a refund, as we made it clear to the sales guy initially that the brand was problematic. At this point, the manager on duty could not assist and advised that she would have to escalate the issues as the purchase amount of R9000 was high. A week later I got called by the store stating that the bicycles are fixed and I must collect, to which I responded that I did not request them to be repaired, I requested a refund, as I was too afraid to let my kids ride those bicycles again. The guy then said no problem we can come for the refund. When we arrived at the store, we were told by the manager again, that we can't be refunded because there's nothing wrong with the bicycles, this coming after they sent it for repairs. We demanded that this gets sent to higher management once again as we were not going to let our kids ride them, at this point we were drained and frustrated. We got called back to the store under false pretence that our refund will be done, only to say we must pick up the repaired bicycles. My husband and I both work really hard to be taken advantage of like this. We live in ballito and cannot drive back and forth all the time for this bull****. Till date the bicycles are still at the store and I am still awaiting feedback from higher management I will never purchase from there again
